JNV exam pattern for Class 6 and Class 9
नवोदय परीक्षा पैटर्न should be copied from the current prospectus. The tables below are from the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti prospectuses for session 2027-28. A later notification replaces them.

JNV Class 6
One booklet contains three sections. The test in the 2027-28 prospectus runs from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM with no break. Candidates mark an OMR sheet with a blue or black ballpoint pen. The suggested time is a guide. Candidates may redistribute the two hours, but the prospectus warns them not to linger. A bell is described every 30 minutes.
Minimum qualifying marks in that prospectus are 14 in mental ability and EVS, 7 in arithmetic and 7 in language. Divyang students are allowed an extra 40 minutes under the stated conditions. Late entry after the reporting time in the prospectus is not permitted, and candidates stay until the full time is over.

JNV Class 9
The Class IX lateral entry test for 2027-28 is a separate paper. It lasts two and a half hours without a break. Divyang candidates are allowed an extra 50 minutes under the prospectus conditions. There is no figure-reasoning section. Qualifying marks are required in all four subjects. Ranking uses mathematics, science and whichever language scored higher.

Why does another NVS page show a different Class 6 pattern?
The enrolment-policy page on navodaya.gov.in still shows mental ability as 40 questions without a separate EVS block. The Class VI prospectus for 2027-28 shows 20 mental-ability questions and 20 EVS questions in that hour. Use the prospectus for the session you are applying in.
